Couple Busted for Refusing to Pay Tip
The Infowarrior
by The Infowarrior  Today 10:25 AM
"Patrons claim service was so bad, they had to get napkins and silverware for themselves" The couple was handcuffed and placed in the back of a police car. “I understand that, you know, we didn’t pay the gratuity, but it was a gratuity, it wasn’t something that was required,” said Wagner. The owner admitted that the group waited unusually long for their food, but said the pub was extremely busy that night. He said managers offered to comp the food, a claim the couple denies ever happened. “Obviously we would have liked for the patron and the establishment to have worked this out without getting the police involved,” said Deputy Police Commissioner Stuart Bedics. Police charged them with theft since the gratuity was part of the actual bill. However, it is doubtful that the charges will hold up in front of a judge. The couple is scheduled to appear in court next month.

In Search Of The Perfect Diva
debbyski
by debbyski  Today 11:28 AM    1
"Some upend expectations. Susan Boyle, the singing-contest Cinderella whose debut album will be released this week, is the prime example. The stout, double-chinned, middle-age singer is the kind of woman who should have only personality going for her. When she opened up her mouth on "Britain's Got Talent" to reveal a voice brimming with a golden glow, people's bewilderment soon gave way to delight, not because she seemed to have worked hard to become so good, but because she didn't: Boyle was a natural beauty in disguise."

Global Warming Causes Prostitution!
merrie
by merrie  11-20-2009    3
Says Mukherjee, the shore-based women in heat will then “perform sexual services for transient seafarers.” Not for free. For a fee. I know what you’re thinking. What about those poor seamen without leave? No worries, mate! The prostitutes will be ferried to the “bigger ships” on the rising tide “by their pimps,” who presumably will be master oarsmen all. The natural question is: will there be enough to go around? Mukherjee assures us there are 92 million Filipinos (she doesn’t say, but I’m guessing that half of these are female types), with the stock increasing to “146 million in the next 40 years.” Further, “60 percent” will be able to see the sea from their abodes. And if these women don’t like baiting hooks"fishing!"some will be “tempted to go into prostitution.” What can we conclude from these facts? “ omen are taking the brunt of climate change.” Ahem. Obviously, Mukherjee was juiced when she tossed off her musings, but she must have been near the bottom

Hacked Emails Show Climate Science Ridden with Rancor
merrie
by merrie  Yesterday 8:27 PM    1
Fellow scientists who disagreed with orthodox views on climate change were variously referred to as "prats" and "utter prats." In other exchanges, one climate researcher said he was "very tempted" to "beat the crap out of" a prominent, skeptical U.S. climate scientist. More recent exchanges centered on requests by independent climate researchers for access to data used by British scientists for some of their papers. The hacked folder is labeled "FOIA," a reference to the Freedom of Information Act requests made by other scientists for access to raw data used to reach conclusions about global temperatures. Many of the email exchanges discussed ways to decline such requests for information, on the grounds that the data was confidential or was intellectual property. In other email exchanges related to the FOIA requests, some U.K. researchers asked foreign scientists to delete all emails related to their work for the upcoming IPCC summary. In others, they discussed boycotting ....

Let Rev. Manning be heard!
kareval
by kareval  Yesterday 1:19 PM    7
Rev. Manning produces a daily video series in which he has repeatedly and consistently aired these views. Now it appears that the YouTube account through which he shared these videos with the public has been suspended on the grounds that his views are too controversial. Close on the heels of this obvious effort to limit his ability to communicate with the public, he now reports that he has been visited by federal agents who questioned him about statements he made regarding "the birth certificate issue" and his opinion that Obama is an illegal alien, not qualified to be president of the United States. As a result of this visit, Rev. Manning says that he expects to be arrested and charged with making threats against the president. I have followed Rev. Manning's broadcasts and statements for some time. He is forthright and outspoken in his religious and political views. He speaks with a boldness that is surely offensive to people who believe that civility requires silence even in the
